I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Languages and Applied Linguistics at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where I teach courses in L2 acquisition, L2 teaching, and research in applied linguistics. Over the past 25 years, I’ve taught English and directed language programs in a variety of contexts (e.g., high school in American Samoa; university-based intensive English programs in Missouri, Arizona, and California; MBA-level English for international trade in Taiwan). Since earning my PhD in Applied Linguistics from Northern Arizona University in 2012, I’ve been working with pre-service language teachers and other future applied linguists as they develop the theoretical background and skills they’ll need for their chosen path.
